Article length generally falls between 500700 words. However, longer or shorter articles are acceptable if discussed with the Editor in advance.
Article Topics
Topics of discussion, as related to French <> English, include translation, interpreting, word processing, software, computer-aided translation, machine translation, technology, letters to the editor, localization, internationalization, the Internet, translation theory and practice, interpretation theory and practice, promotional marketing and more. Our goal is to facilitate discussion of issues that are of interest to French <> English translators and interpreters.
Language
Articles or other submissions are accepted in either English or French.
Writers should submit articles in their native language (French or
English) unless discussed in advance with the editor.
Format
Writers may submit articles or other items via diskette, fax or e-mail, but e-mail is preferred. If an item is over 100 words, it should be submitted via diskette or e-mail so as to avoid re-keying of the text. Electronic files may be submitted in Text format, Rich Text format, or MS Word format. Other formats may be accepted if first discussed with the editor.
Bio Information
All submissions should be accompanied by a one- or two-sentence bio and contact information. E-mail addresses will be published with the writer's by-line unless the writer requests that this information be omitted from publication. An example by-line: "John Doe is a freelance translator from Spanish and French to English and can be reached at john@doe.com." Photos of writers are also welcome for publication. They can be submitted as hard copy to be scanned by the editor or as an electronic file.
Contact Information
To make sure that you can be contacted by the editor for questions, clarifications or more information, be sure to include all that apply when submitting your article or item: mailing address, phone, fax, e-mail, etc.
Graphics
Graphics, photos and illustrations are welcome for articles. These should be submitted with the article by the deadline. Graphics can be submitted electronically or as hard copy. This should be discussed with the editor before submission.
Notice
Please note that the editorial staff of À Propos reserves the right to edit all submissions and also to decide what articles, items and information will be published in this forum.
