The translators are coming, the translators are coming!

Matt Baird

This week in Boston you most likely won’t see Paul Revere riding through the streets of Boston crying “the translators are coming, the translators are coming.” (Ok, so you may see an actor playing Paul Revere, but he most certainly won’t be crying anything about translators!) What you will see is a shipload of translators from all over the world pouring into town like sacks of tea at the Boston Tea Party – all descending on America’s birthplace to walk the Freedom Trail, and take in a session or two.

The ATA’s 52nd Annual Conference begins this Wednesday at Boston’s Marriott Copley Place. This year the GLD really outdid itself. Our administrator, Ruth G. Krawczyk, received an overwhelming number of submissions and as a result there is a German session scheduled in every time slot. In other words, good luck deciding which sessions to attend.

The interaktiv editorial team is taking the opportunity to get together on Thursday to take stock of the past year. We hope to continue to make interaktiv a useful and entertaining publication.

Now of course I’d like to prevent a tea-party-like revolt among our readership. So I’d like to officially announce that there will be no taxation without representation! Rather than dumping interaktiv into your own proverbial Boston Harbor, please speak up and send me your comments, tips and suggestions (write to matt@boldertranslations.com). I’ll take these to the meeting in true representative democracy style – which is to say not that of the United States Congress.

Now grab your muskets and sound the horn Boston…the translators are coming!

Best Grüße
