Beacons is an annual peer-reviewed
journal published by the American Translators Association's
Literary Division. The Fall 2007 issue will feature three
new rubrics:
-
INTRODUCING - a seasoned translator
introducing a new author;
-
NEWCOMERS - for literary translators
who've published fewer than fifty pages;
-
SE HABLA ESPAÑOL - translations
from English into Spanish, in celebration of
our unofficial second language.
We also welcome humorous texts about writing
or translating, and texts with visual appeal.
Issues of Beacons will be published
online as well as in a print-on-demand version of similar
quality and format to previous editions of Beacons.
Source texts will be available along with the target text
wherever possible, on-line as well as in the print version.
We hope to take advantage of our new online home to offer
author and translator photos, commentary on the texts, audio
clips of readings and interviews, and links to and from other
Web sites. Graphics, concrete poetry, animation, and hypertext
works are particularly welcome. Contributing translators and
living authors will each receive one free copy of the print
version.
