Kelley D. Salas is a Spanish to English translator, editor, and certified court interpreter. Her work has been published in Words Without Borders, Plough Quarterly, and Literal Magazine, among others. She specializes in nonfiction and children’s literature; she also translates texts related to medicine and health care, education, journalism and social sciences. Salas is ATA certified for Spanish to English translation. She holds a graduate certificate in translation and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She studied social sciences and languages (French, Italian, and Spanish) at the University of Michigan, where she received her bachelor’s degree. Salas was a bilingual teacher for over a decade before becoming a full-time translator and interpreter in 2016. She served on the editorial board of the independent magazine and book publisher Rethinking Schools, where she wrote and published more than a dozen articles and co-edited The New Teacher Book.
