Pamela Shepard Garcia

Pamela Shepard Garcia is working on her first translation of a book of short stories, by an Ecuadorian author, from Spanish into English. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at U.C. Davis in 1987. After a twenty-year career in banking technology, she set off on a journey to build a career centered on languages. In 2011 she became a certified court interpreter in California. During these past ten years Pamela has made her living by interpreting for depositions and schools as well as translating legal documents. She has lived and traveled in Spain, Mexico and Ecuador. Pamela is a voracious reader and loves the Guadalajara Book Fair which she discovered in 2012 when her friend Angela McEwan introduced her to the world of literary translation.
