NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Literary Division is scheduled to hold
elections in 2007. The Administrator will be contacting members
shortly to seek volunteers to serve on the Nominating Committee
ATA will offer adminsitrative support for the Nominating Committee
members and in particular the Director of Divisions, Jamie
Padula, jamie@atanet.org.
TIMETABLE FOR 2007 ATA DIVISION ELECTIONS
--May 31, 2007
Nominating Committee appointed
Call for nominations broadcast to division membership in June
Call for nominations published in spring or summer issue of
division newsletter
Nomination form posted on division website
--July 14 (16 weeks before Annual Meeting
of the division)
Nominating Committee submits report to ATA Division Relations
Manager along with a written acceptance letter from each candidate
--July 28 (14 weeks before Annual Meeting
of the division)
Slate of candidates published to membership along with a written
candidate statement from each candidate
--August 28 (45 days after publication of
slate)
Deadline for receipt of petitions to add candidates to slate;
each petition must include a written acceptance letter from
the candidate to be added
--September 22 (6 weeks before the Annual
Meeting of the division)
Ballots for opposed elections mailed to membership by ATA
Headquarters
Inspector of Elections and at least 1 assistant must be appointed
by the division administrator
--October 27 (7 days before the Annual Meeting
of the division)
Deadline for receipt of ballots by Inspector of Elections
in care of ATA Headquarters
--November 3 (Annual Division Meeting at
ATA's 48th Annual Conference, San Francisco, CA)
Inspector of Elections receives ballots and announces election
results or officers are elected by acclamation
The election guidelines include templates
and forms for many of the above steps. ATA Headquarters will
assist each Nominating Committee in tailoring these to their
specific division.
