About the main events

Spring Meetings — ATA Conference — Past Events

In 1995, the PLD instituted the idea of a "Winter Meeting," an opportunity for members to get together and discuss issues related to their profession, make presentations, share experiences and knowledge, promote their services, and socialize. The Winter Meeting, recently renamed the "Spring Meeting," has become very popular. In addition to serving as a forum for our members, it also gives them an opportunity to get away from their work and spend a few days among colleagues and friends, usually in a warmer climate.

The PLD at the Annual Conferences of the ATA

The PLD activities culminate each year at the annual ATA Conference, held in late October or early November. Many members consider this event one of the professional and social high points of the year. In addition to the annual division meeting, which is productive and very well attended, there are a number of presentations of direct interest to people in Portuguese translation and interpretation. The PLD sponsors social and cultural events at the conference as well. We welcome all interested parties to PLD conference activities, so that potential members can see what we are about before joining.
