Welcome to SLD!
Welcome to the Slavic Languages Division of the American Translators Association. The goal of the SLD website is to provide potential members and other interested people with information about our division, and access to some of our materials.
Here, you will be able to:
- Learn more about the Slavic Languages Division
- Access current and past issues of SlavFile, a quarterly SLD publication whose mission is to facilitate the careers and professional development of translators and interpreters of Slavic languages and to entertain and inform them in areas related to these careers.
- Join the Slavic Languages Division
- Join the Russian Translators Yahoo! Group. The Group is open to all translators working in either direction between Russian and English, whether or not they are members of the SLD. To receive an invitation, please contact Nora Favorov at norafavorov@gmail.com
The Division provides a forum for our more than 700 members to interact through conference activities, our newsletter, the SlavFile, this website and other forms of formal and informal networking. The majority of us lives in North America, but we are delighted to interact with fellow members living in a number of other nations (both Slavic and non-Slavic). Members range from those recently out of school and just beginning to work in the profession to those who have translated and/or interpreted for more than 40 years. Our goal is to meet the shared professional needs of our entire range of members and we are especially eager to help those newly arrived in our country, organization, or division.
