Ana G. Gonz\u00e1lez Meade, M.A. is an audiovisual translation and quality control specialist with over 25 years of experience in leading United States-based major studios and content-processing companies. She has tens of thousands of translated and reviewed program hours under her belt for broadcasting, DVD, Blu-ray, and streaming media found on content from Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Fox, Disney, Apple TV+, and the big screen. As a subtitling and dubbing adaptation tutor and educator, she has taught dubbing as a tutor at University College London, audiovisual translation at Universidad de Antioquia; and audiovisual translation & localization as a professor at California State University Long Beach. She speaks at annual conferences and international events. She is part of the original quality assurance Latin American Spanish team at Netflix since 2014. She holds a Master of Arts in Translation Studies from the University of Portsmouth and is certified by the Universitat de Barcelona on Spanish Proofreading and Style. As Territory Manager for Latin America at Pixelogic Media, she managed Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese and is presently the Spanish Lead PM at International Digital Center New York. She is a founding member of the American Translators Association\u2019s Audiovisual Division and editor-in-chief of its Deep Focus newsletter.<\/p>\n

Britta Noack was born and raised in a small town in Northern Germany and studied Linguistics, Literature and Media in Hamburg and Osnabr\u00fcck. Shortly after acquiring her M.A. at the University of Osnabr\u00fcck, she discovered her love for translations and the entertainment industry and became a State Certified Translator. Britta moved to San Diego, California, in 2002 and started working as a Game Localization Specialist at Sony Online Entertainment, where she was also part of a team subtitling many game videos and more. After many years of \u201cplaying games\u201d she decided to return to the freelance world and has been working on many entertainment materials, movies and TV shows as a subtitler \u2013 among those are the hit shows Magicians<\/em>, Chicago PD<\/em>, Star Trek Voyager<\/em>, The Affair<\/em>, etc. \u2013 and also mentoring and helping up-and-coming talent in the industry.<\/p>\n

Milbia Rodriguez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She has more than 20 years of experience as an English to Spanish translator specializing in advertising, marketing and transcreation. She now works as a subtitle translator and Spanish to Spanish captioner. She has a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages from the University of Puerto Rico and a master in Audiovisual Translation from the University of Cadiz.<\/p>\n

Luc\u00eda Hern\u00e1ndez is a freelance audiovisual and marketing translator based in Toronto, Canada. She has worked with CBC Docs, Vice Media, and Fairtrade Canada on documentaries and corporate video and interpreted at the Toronto International Film Festival, Hotdocs International Documentary Film Festival, and Caminos Theatre Festival.\u00a0 She has completed M.A.s in Translation Studies (Glendon College) and Spanish Literature (Queen\u2019s University) and is certified for Spanish to English translation by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario.<\/p>\n

Merry is a native New Yorker who now calls Galicia, Spain, home. For the past 15 years, she has worked to make content more accessible through subtitling, dubbing, closed captioning, and audio description for television, major streaming platforms, museums, film festivals, video games, commercials, websites, social media, and live events. She is especially proud to have translated some of the most popular Spanish-language series on streaming and three Oscar-nominated films. A dedicated educator, she has taught at the Universidade dos A\u00e7ores (through a Fulbright grant), Kent State University, the Universidade de Vigo, and SUNY Geneseo. She is currently pursuing a PhD in translation at the Universidade de Vigo and also holds a master\u2019s in translation studies from Kent State University, a master\u2019s in secondary education from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, and has completed graduate coursework in multimedia translation at the Universidade de Vigo.<\/p>\n

Daniela Costa is an English<>Spanish certified translator and attorney at law from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She holds a masters\u2019 degree in Audiovisual Translation from the University of Cadiz (Spain). She is a member of ATA and the Buenos Aires Sworn Translators Association. She has been working as a freelance subtitle translator for leading localization companies for 25 years, and her works can be seen in theaters and major streaming platforms. She also specializes in the translation of legal and agricultural texts.<\/p>\n

\"\"Aniella Vivenzio, DeepFocus Submissions Coordinator, submissioncoordinatoravd@gmail.com<\/a><\/h3>\n

Aniella Vivenzio is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CCHI, Spanish) passionate about advancing the interpreting and translating profession. She currently serves as Vice President of the ATA Carolina Chapter (CATI), where she previously served as Director from 2022 to 2024, coordinating initiatives that promote continuing education and foster collaboration within the community. She was a member of the Translation Company Division Leadership Council from 2021 to 2023.<\/p>\n

Since 2021, she has been a member of the Audiovisual Division Leadership Council, where she helps keep members informed about new technologies, trends, and best practices. In addition to her work at DeepFocus, she has knowledge and experience in dubbing, acquired during her time in Venezuela. This experience in dubbing complements her career in translation and interpretation, allowing her to offer an enriching perspective in the audiovisual field<\/p>\n

Marie Winnick grew up in a bilingual Italian-English household in the United States, began learning Spanish at the age of 15, received her Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video from Columbia College Chicago in 2006, began her freelance translation career after receiving her Spanish > English Translation Studies Certificate from the University of Chicago Graham School in 2012, and began offering Italian > English translation services in 2017 after producing a few dozen headline articles for foreign news aggregator Watching America. Her subtitling, closed captioning and dubbing script translation work can be seen on most of the major streaming platforms, as well as on some major TV networks and independent outlets. She also offers police\/legal transcription and market\/marketing research translation services. She hopes to start doing audio description for the blind sooner than later.<\/p>\n

Originally from Lima, Peru and having spent part of her upbringing in the United States, Carla brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. She studied Fine Arts at George Mason University, where she cultivated her creative skills and deepened her appreciation for storytelling across different mediums\u2014a passion that continues to inform her work in translation and interpretation today. Carla joined the American Translators Association (ATA) in 2020 during the pandemic, seeking connection in what can often be a solitary profession. Lahoucine Boumahdy, born and raised in Morocco, is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar in Los Angeles, California. Lahoucine is an ATA student member and was previously the Translation and PR Coordinator for the ReachSci Society at Cambridge University. For the past seven years, he has worked as a freelancer in subtitling, subtitle quality checking, and Arabic localization project management. He has subtitled leading Moroccan web documentaries into English for platforms like YouTube, national TV, and various film festivals.<\/p>\n

Seongbak (Jamie) Jin is a Korean-to-English translator, transcreator, and subtitler based in the Netherlands. A full-time translator since 2016, Jamie has always been drawn to creative projects that involve storytelling. In 2023, she joined the Audiovisual Division of the American Translators Association to build on this interest. Since then, she has worked on several Korean productions, including dramas, variety shows, and documentaries. Born in Seoul and having lived on three different continents, she brings a unique cross-cultural insight to her work. Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys reading and writing fiction, accompanied by her feline companion, and running in her sometimes windy but charming neighborhood just outside of Leiden.<\/p>\n
