{"id":679,"date":"2019-08-10T13:44:46","date_gmt":"2019-08-10T13:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ata-divisions.org\/AVD\/?p=679"},"modified":"2019-08-10T14:03:41","modified_gmt":"2019-08-10T14:03:41","slug":"looking-forward-to-media-for-all-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ata-divisions.org\/AVD\/looking-forward-to-media-for-all-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking forward to Media for All 8!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h5>by Mara Campbell<\/h5>\n<p>In just a few days, Stockholm will be swarming with audiovisual professionals from all areas who will be attending the <strong>Media for All 8<\/strong> conference at the Institute for Interpreting and Translation<br \/>\nStudies at the Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism at the main campus of <strong>Stockholm University<\/strong>. The <strong>Media for All<\/strong> conference is a biannual event organized by the<br \/>\n<strong>Transmedia Research Group<\/strong>, and it changes venues in every installment.<\/p>\n<p>Under the motto <strong>\u201cComplex understandings,\u201d<\/strong> this year\u2019s conference \u201cis about creating and mediating understanding in an increasingly complex mediascape. Understanding not only of audiovisual content, but also understanding of and between producers, consumers and prosumers, understanding for the technical and cognitive processes involved, understanding for consumers\u2019<br \/>\nneeds and desires, and understanding of and for working conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Keynote Speakers will be <strong>Agnieszka Szarkowska<\/strong>, Associate Professor at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, and <strong>Jan-Louis Kruger<\/strong>, Head of the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. They will be accompanied by academics and professionals from all areas, who will tackle many topics concerning subtitling, dubbing, audiodescription, SDH, accessibility, sign language, and surtitling.<\/p>\n<p>On June 17th, several workshops will take place, with trainers such as Pilar Orero, Anna Matamala, Pablo Romero-Fresco, and Joel Snyder teaching about subtitling and audiodescription in immersive environments, quantitative research, accessible filmmaking and much more.
