Attending ATA\u2019s annual conference is of course an excellent way to stay in the loop (you can register for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atanet.org\/ata66\/register\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATA66 in Boston<\/a> now!), but there are many other interesting events.<\/p>\n<p>The list below is just a small sample of events that are organized in the Netherlands \/ Belgium (geared towards the Dutch language) as well as around the world. Please note that I do not have any knowledge about whether or not these would be approved for Continuing Education points by the ATA nor do I have personal experience with these organizations. What is the connection between language and emotions?<br \/>\nOctober 11, 2025 in Utrecht<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/congres.levendetalen.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congres Levende Talen<\/a><br \/>\nThis year\u2019s theme: <em>Talen voor kansen, kansen voor talen!<br \/>\n<\/em>Annual event<br \/>\nNovember 14, 2025 in Ede<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.letterenfonds.nl\/ontdek\/literaire-vertaaldagen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Literaire Vertaaldagen<\/a><br \/>\nOrganized by Nederlands Letterenfonds (Dutch Foundation for Literature)<br \/>\nAnnual event held over two days.<br \/>\nThis year\u2019s event took place earlier this month in Amsterdam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Outlier<\/u>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dvta.org\/dvta-event\/save-the-date-pennsylvania-dutch-day-in-lancaster-pa-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania Dutch Day<\/a><br \/>\nJuly 19, 2025 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania<br \/>\nI am aware that Pennsylvania Dutch is NOT close to Dutch (and has more similarities with German and Yiddish), but it might be of interest to someone who likes to know more about it.<br \/>\nYou can read more about Pennsylvania Dutch in <a href=\"https:\/\/ata-divisions.org\/GLD\/pennsylvania-dutch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a> published by the German Language Division.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>General Translation Events<\/u>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fitift.eventsair.com\/fit2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FIT 2025<\/a><br \/>\nOrganized by the International Federation of Translators<br \/>\nAnnual Conference<br \/>\nThis year the conference is taking place from September 4 to 6, 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dvta.org\/dvta-event\/the-evolving-linguist-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Evolving Linguist Conference<\/a><br \/>\nSeptember 6, 2025 in New Brunswick, New Jersey<br \/>\nOrganized by the Delaware Valley Translators Association, the Spanish and Portuguese Language Divisions and the New York Circle of Translators<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/elia-association.org\/event\/together-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Together<\/a><br \/>\nAnnual conference organized by the European Language Industry Association<br \/>\nThis year\u2019s conference was held in Barcelona, Spain in February.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gala-global.org\/conference\/GALA-2026-Berlin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GALA Conference<\/a><br \/>\nOrganized by the Globalization and Localization Association<br \/>\nThis year\u2019s event was held in Montreal, Canada in April.<br \/>\nNext year will be April 12 to 14, 2026 in Berlin, Germany<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/bpconf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BP Translation Conference<\/a><br \/>\nAnnual event<br \/>\nThis year\u2019s conference took place in Krakow, Poland in May.<br \/>\nNext year will be April 20 to 22, 2026 in Avignon, France<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Irene Stoel It is important for a translator to stay up to date with not only the languages one works with, but also translation trends in general.
