Winter 2010/2011 edition of GLD Newsletter now online!

Cover of winter 2010/2011 edition of interaktivThe totally redesigned Winter 2010/2011 edition of interaktiv is now available here on the GLD website. Visit our newsletter archive and click on Winter 2010/2011.

In this issue of interaktiv, our Administrator, Ruth Gentes Krawczyk, begins with a wrap-up of the conference in Denver, after which Sarah Allen reminds all of us seasoned conference goers what it was like to wear the First Time Attendee badge. In “Die Herrscher der Zeit,” translator and journalist Helena Schneider poetically ponders all the time we freelancers have working from home – at least that’s what everyone else seems to think! Our own Jacqueline Jugenheimer, an English to German medical translator, reports on the seminar “Medizin für Sprachmittler” she attended in Lübeck this year (originally published in ADÜ Nord InfoBlatt 3/2010). And don’t miss our Translator in Profile – a familiar face whose path to translation was by no means a straight one.

Acknowledgements

A special thanks goes out to Katrin Rippel for making the new design ideas come to life on the page. I’d also like to thank the rest of the editorial team: Amanda Ennis, Janice Becker, Susanne van Eyl for their work, not to mention their advice and support. Thanks also to Rainer Klett and Roland Grefer for providing helpful advice and feedback.

The authors also deserve our gratitude – without your contributions, we wouldn’t have much to publish – thank you!

Two long-time members of the interaktiv team – Rainer Klett and Roland Grefer – have decided to hang up their hats. Both Rainer and Roland made an invaluable contribution to the newsletter that will be a tough act to follow. Thank you both very much for volunteering so much time to the GLD!
Beste Grüße,

Matt Baird
