A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (B.S.), the University of Oklahoma (MPA), and the University of Virginia (Ph.D.), he belongs to the PEN Center, the American Translators Association (ATA), the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) and the American Translation and Interpreting Studies Association (ATISA).
