She transitioned from a career as a pharmacist to pursue her passion for translation in 2012. Holding degrees in pharmaceutical sciences and history of science from Brazil\u2019s UFMG, along with a certificate in translation from NYU, she has developed a strong focus on translations in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.<\/p>\n<p>Alexia plays an active role in her local community, having served on the Board of the New York Circle of Translators (NYCT), an ATA chapter, for two terms. During her almost 15 years of experience, she&#8217;s helped her clients communicate in a wide array of fields. She&#8217;s a member of AIIC and APIC and she&#8217;s certified by ATA and ABRATES. Paula holds a degree in Translation and a full diploma in Conference Interpreting.<\/p>\n<p>Working at events with thousands of listeners and live broadcasts to global audiences, Paula has interpreted widely known figures, from celebrities like Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, and Sandra Bullock to politicians like American Vice President Kamala Harris and Brazilian Presidents Jair Bolsonaro and Michel Temer. She has a complete studio for Remote Simultaneous Interpreting and has been trained in multiple RSI platforms. Paula&#8217;s work in written translation is heavily geared towards crafting well-written texts that sound elegant and natural to a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker\u2014hence her expertise in the creative realms of transcreation and game localization. Paula is also an experienced speaker who has delivered talks in multiple countries, has been an interpreter trainer at Alumni and has sat on the board of the Brazilian Translators and Interpreters Association. Later, Julia joined Trados in the US and in Germany from 2000 to 2003 and worked in different projects for freelancers, LSPs and language-services related technology. She co-founded TranslateIt.net in Seattle, Washington and ran the business\u2019 front and back offices for 7 years.<\/p>\n<p>Besides her ATA-Certification in English-to-Portuguese achieved in 2006, Julia has been a certification grader since 2010 and more recently Deputy Language Chair. She holds certificates in translation and foreign languages from different academic institutions in Europe and Africa, and a degree in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation from the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg. She is also an interpreter, and her career has spanned four decades and two continents. Gio has served the ATA as a marketing team volunteer, Assistant Administrator and Administrator of the Interpreters Division, and Certification Grader (Portuguese into English). She was President of the original Florida Chapter (FLATA) and later co-founded the current Florida chapter (ATIF), which she also led as president\u2014twice. Gio also served as Interim Vice-Chair of the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, Chair of the Miami-Dade County Advisory Council on Translation and Interpretation, and General Secretary of the Brazilian Association of Translators and Interpreters (ABRATES). She graduated from New York University in international relations, began translating and interpreting during an internship at an NGO, then worked at United Nations headquarters for two years, moved to Brazil and continued translation, proofreading, and interpreting studies (graduated from Rio Brasillis), and interpreted President Obama in Washington DC in 2016.
