A Ph.D. in translation studies and Fulbright scholar, Regina Alfarano is (or has been) a graduate school\u00a0professor, speaker, author, editor, member of four editorial boards, online and onsite teacher, master\u2019s degree advisor, published literary translator, expert\u00a0medical interpreter, literary prize jury member, and recipient\u00a0of the APIC Translator of the Year award in 2000, in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>2009<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Donna Sandin<\/h3>\n<p>The 2009 recipient of Mario Ferreira Award was announced at PLD Annual Meeting \u2013 ATA\u2019s 50th Annual Conference in New York: long-time PLD member Donna Sandin.<\/p>\n<h3>2007<br \/>\nEdna Ditaranto<\/h3>\n<p>To mark its 20th. anniversary, ATA\u2019s Portuguese Language Divsion (PLD) presented Edna Ditaranto with the M\u00e1rio Ferreira Award at ATA\u2019s 48th Annual Conference in San Francisco. Together with M\u00e1rio Ferreira, Edna was one of the founders of the PLD in 1987, and served as the division\u2019s administrator for several terms. At the time of the award she was the language chair for the English&gt;Portuguese exam grading team in ATA\u2019s Certification Program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>\u00a01999<br \/>\nClifford E. Landers<\/h3>\n<p>Cliff Landers was recognized for his contribution as a translator of Brazilian Literature. Clifford E. Landers is professor of Political Science at New Jersey City University. His translations from Brazilian Portuguese include novels by Rubem Fonseca, Jorge Amado, Jo\u00e3o Ubaldo Ribeiro, Patr\u00edcia Melo, J\u00f4 Soares, Chico Buarque, Paulo Coelho, Marcos Rey and Jos\u00e9 de Alencar, and shorter fiction by Lima Barreto, Osman Lins, Moacyr Scliar and Rachel de Queiroz.<\/p>\n<h3>1997<br \/>\nMurilo N\u00e9ri<\/h3>\n<p>Murilo was a very well known Brazilian actor and TV\/Radio personality. Among the many roles he performed during his professional life, Murilo was the translator of the 1987 and 1988 Miss Universe pageant.
