I earned a translation certificate from Brasillis Idiomas in 2015 and completed my MA in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Illinois in 2022. My experience includes freelance and in-house work, particularly with journalistic and religious texts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What you\u2019re doing these days professionally?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Currently, I\u2019m working as a project manager in music translation, though I still take on occasional freelance projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What is a current translation or interpreting engagement you are completing (or one you have completed recently)?<\/em><br \/>\n<\/strong>At present, I\u2019m managing large, multiyear music translation projects from English into Indonesian and Brazilian Portuguese. The Brazilian Portuguese project is particularly meaningful to me, as it allows me to step beyond project management and contribute as a music translator at times\u2014challenging but incredibly fulfilling work.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What is one of your greatest life accomplishments (whether personal or professional) to date?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>One of my greatest accomplishments was raising my three kids across four states (Utah, Texas, New Jersey, and Mississippi). I\u2019m proud of the challenges they\u2019ve overcome and the young adults they\u2019ve become.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What challenge(s) are you facing in your career?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>As a project manager, a key challenge is advocating for the languages I manage, ensuring that the final product resonates with end users. More broadly, staying current with new technology and resources can be tough, as it requires time to explore and master these tools.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>When did you first join ATA?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>I joined the ATA and the PLD in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How has ATA and\/or PLD membership benefited you?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>My ATA and PLD memberships have connected me with an inspiring network of professionals and made it easier to stay current in my field.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What do you enjoy doing outside of translation and interpreting?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>I enjoy biking, baking, reading, Zillow surfing, and sewing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>If you weren&#8217;t a translator or interpreter, what would you be and why?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>I would likely be an interior designer. When I need a quick mental break, I often find myself browsing Zillow, imagining renovation possibilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What is your favorite book of Portuguese-language literature?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Thanks to the PLD Book Club, <em>Terra Son\u00e2mbula<\/em> by Mia Couto has been recently added to my favorites list. However, Machado de Assis still remains one of my favorite authors.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What message would you wish to share with your fellow translators and interpreters?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Never hesitate to reach out to our fantastic network at the ATA and its divisions.
