\nConference interpreting, court interpreting, literary translation<\/p>\n

I\u2019m most proud of:<\/strong>
\nMy literary translations, especially the works of playwright Nelson Rodrigues. I also felt very honored to have interpreted for Portuguese writer Jos\u00e9 Saramago on three occasions.<\/p>\n

My background:<\/strong>
\nI was born in Brazil to an American father and a Brazilian mother and I grew up in both countries. I have a degree in Journalism and Spanish from NYU. In my previous life I was a newspaper reporter and a taxi driver.<\/p>\n

Why do I belong to PLD?<\/strong>
\nHonestly, I\u2019ve only attended very few events, but when I did I learned a lot.<\/p>\n

Major challenges in my career:<\/strong>
\nTranslating Alberto Mussa\u2019s\u00a0O senhor do lado esquerdo<\/em><\/a>. It\u2019s a brilliant book but very complex, with many interweaving plotlines and many words in the Tupi Guarani and Bantu languages.<\/p>\n

What I\u2019m reading now:<\/strong>
\n\u201cBeautiful Ruins<\/a>,\u201d by Jess Walter. It\u2019s a funny novel about a chance encounter and almost-love affair between an innkeeper and an American actress on the Italian coast, in 1962, and rekindled in Hollywood fifty years later.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
