The speaker touched on the history of the profession in Brazil. Attendees found out where interpreting is used, the methods and tools available to interpreters, how technology has affected and will continue to affect the profession, and the rights and responsibilities of interpreters. She has worked in the translation and interpreting industry since 1980. She served on the board of directors of both medical interpreter certification initiatives for the National Coalition on Health Care (later, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters) and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. She is a past administrator of ATA\u2019s Interpreters Division.
