On our third\u00a0installment of \u201cPLD Shop Talk,\u201d Assistant Administrator \u00c9rika Lessa interviewed Helen Campbell, former staff member of the\u00a0Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Commission<\/a>\u00a0in Brussels and current Director of the National Network for Interpreting of the UK program \u201cRoutes into Languages<\/a>.\u201d Helen is also an interpreter trainer at the\u00a0Master of Conference Interpreting<\/a>\u00a0program offered by the School of Translation at Glendon \u2013 York University in Toronto, Canada.<\/p>\n

\"DSCN4111\"<\/a>\u00c9RIKA LESSA<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is a conference interpreter who also loves translating, and truly believes one complements the other. She has worked in different sectors of the industry, including humanities, marketing, software and game localization. As an interpreter, she is proud to have worked at international events such as Rio +20 and Bill Clinton\u2019s visit to her hometown, Bel\u00e9m. She now lives in Toronto, where she completed a Master\u2019s program in Conference Interpreting at York University. After hearing at the 2014 PLD annual meeting that they wanted help, she decided to share some of her time and talents to help strengthen the Division, and has been elected Assistant Administrator for the 2015-2017 administration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
