Several decades ago…
The Japanese Language Division (JLD) first came into unofficial existence in 1984 and was formally sanctioned by the ATA in 1987 as the first language-specific group within the organization. The JLD is a means of offering communication among its members and of providing information and services to its members in specific fields of interest related to translation to/from the Japanese language.
Official JLD reports, including Governance Reports and the Annual Meeting minutes, are available here.
