Dear Colleagues,
The Business Practices Education Committee is looking for volunteers for the first ever Brainstorm Networking event at the ATA Conference in Chicago:

NEW: Brainstorm Networking
Find solutions! Make connections!
Supercharge your networking skill set in this fast-paced, interactive, and collaborative event. Work in small teams to tackle common business-related challenges, while making new friends and creating new partnerships.
It takes place Thursday, November 6th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in “Chicago 6,” and we are asking volunteers to arrive at 5:45for a brief orientation.
The gist of the event is that participants gather around bar tables (standing tables that accommodate six, like those at the Welcome Reception), introduce themselves briefly and exchange business cards, then select a question from the appropriate envelope and discuss possible solutions. There are five questions in each envelope (one envelope per round), so there should be something for everyone, including an interpreting question for every round. After ten minutes, a chime sounds and everyone has a minute or two to move to a different table, the idea being to meet five new people in each of the four rounds. (This event replaces Speed Networking.)
Volunteers will be stationed at the doors to hand out the instructions and on the floor to answer procedural questions or (more likely) encourage participants to quickly wrap up the discussion and change tables. It’s even possible that volunteers will be able to participate in the discussion in the final round.
We’re excited about the event – there will be 60 tables! It’s bound to be a little chaotic, but the goal is to meet people and have a good time while discussing a few thought-provoking questions.
If you would like to volunteer, please let me know by replying to me *offline* at paula@dbaPlanB.com. Feel free to pass this information along if you know anyone else you think would be interested. Please do stress that volunteers need to arrive by5:45 pm.
Even if you can’t volunteer, it would be great to see you at the event! And don’t forget that the Business Practices Happy Hour is scheduled right after this event at 7:00 (in a different room, Chicago 10).
Thanks very much for considering it. Hope to see many of you that evening one way or another.
Best regards,
Paula
