June 19, 2025 | 1:00–2:30 PM ET | LawD Members Only
We’re excited to continue our 2025 webinar series with a presentation by Rebecca Jowers, a longtime and valued member of the ATA Law Division.
Rebecca has contributed to our community for many years, offering her expertise through legal presentations at the ATA Conference and a popular series of posts on our Blawg. Her insights have helped clarify complex legal language and offered practical guidance for Spanish-English legal translators.
If you haven’t yet read her series “Things Legal Translators Need to Know: What’s in the Código Civil?”, you can find it here:
We’re honored to welcome her as the presenter of our second Law Division webinar of the year.
What to Expect
In this presentation, we will delve into a practical framework for handling false friends in Spanish-English legal translation. Attendees will gain a renewed analytical perspective and leave with more accurate, context-aware, and culturally attuned translation options for legal false cognates.
