Certification exam sitting in Malmö, Sept 14, 2018

It is now official! An ATA certification exam sitting will be held in Malmö, Sweden, on Friday September 14, i.e. just before the SLAM conference in the same city.
The exam sitting will be computerized and is open for all ATA members working with the ATA certification language combinations.
Please note that there will be a maximum capacity of 24 places. Admission is based on the order in which registrations are received.

Call for presentation proposals for ATA59

The American Translators Association is now accepting presentation proposals for the ATA 59th Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, October 24-27, 2018.

The Annual Conference attracts more than 1,600 attendees, bringing together translators, interpreters, educators, and company owners. Making a presentation to such a diverse audience is an excellent way to gain recognition as a leader and expert in your field!

Submissions are invited from all areas of translation and interpreting, including finance, law, medicine, literature, media, science and technology, terminology, independent contracting, business management, and training/pedagogy. Sessions may be language specific or general.

Submission proposals must be received by March 2, 2018.

ASF opens 38th annual Translation Competition

The American-Scandinavian Foundation has announced the opening of its 38th annual Translation Competition for outstanding translations of poetry, fiction, drama, or literary prose written by a Scandinavian author born after 1900.

The entry deadline is June 15.

Webstreamed workshop for EU translators (SV)

On Tuesday 23 January 2018, 9.30–16.00, the European Commission’s DG Translation’s Swedish Language Department will arrange a workshop for freelance translators.

The workshop will focus on working practices and quality requirements and about future opportunities for translating into Swedish for the European Commission.

The seminar is free of charge, include a lunch sandwich and is open to all external contractors translating into Swedish.
