In partnership with the Joint National Committee for Languages, ATA will host an all-day advocacy event, complete with training sessions, collaborative working groups, and meetings with Congressional offices and Executive Branch agencies. Petra Glimåker-Socolovsky guest speaker at the ATA58

The Nordic Division is delighted to announce Petra Glimåker-Socolovsky as our guest speaker this year. She is the chair of the Swedish School for Children in Washington, DC and a freelance contributor for Swedish Public Radio, where she covers U.S. culture, religion and politics.

At ATA58, she has two sessions: “The Swedish School: Extracurricular Language Schools in the U.S.” and “Cursing and Anachronisms: Swedish Culture Clash”.

Snorri Sturluson Icelandic Fellowships

The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies invites applications for the Snorri Sturluson Icelandic Fellowships for 2018. The Fellowships are granted to writers, translators and scholars (not to university students) in the field of humanities from outside Iceland, to enable them to stay in Iceland for a period of at least three months, in order to improve their knowledge of the Icelandic language, culture and society.
