Welcome to ATA CLD’s July virtual happy hour!

Let’s get social AGAIN! We at the CLD Leadership Council received great feedback after our first virtual happy hour in June, so we thought why not do this again! Please join us at 6:30 pm EDT on Wednesday, July 29. We will meet on SpatialChat, a simple to use meeting platform IDEAL for our purpose. But only the first 50 people who arrive in our “space” will get in, so please be there on time!

Thanks to our colleague and LC member, Shaoli Gu, CLD has a new logo now! Check it out below!

Another LC member, Prudence Miller, recommended this delicious Pineapple Martini recipe. Cheers to summer!

Here is what you’ll need to do to join the fun:

1. Register for the event on Eventbrite. You will receive a link upon registration. Click on the link at the time and date of the event. (Registration does not guarantee you have a ”saved seat.” You still need to show up in time to get in.)

2. Once you log into Spatial, it will ask for your name. After typing in your name, you will be sent to our meet-up “space.”

3. In this “space,” you have a bubble with your video. Make sure your audio and video are turned on and working.

4. You can move yourself (in your bubble) around with your cursor in the “space” to create small clusters for conversation, like a real-life conversation. If you’re not close to another person’s bubble, then you can’t hear them.

5. Everyone starts (appears) in the middle of the “space.” We will do a little warm-up exercise for the first 10 minutes or so. Afterwards, you can move out of the middle to create the small clusters for separate conversations.

Please be sure to enter your real name (English and/or Chinese) before you enter the “space.”

Unfortunately, Spatial only supports 50 people in one “space,” so only the first 50 people who arrive will be automatically admitted.

We’re planning many exciting things for our fellow Chinese translators and interpreters, especially during these challenging times. Please stay tuned to our announcements through the ATA broadcast as well as in our open WeChat group (see QR code below), Facebook page, LinkedIn group, and listserv.

Oh, and one more thing! By signing up for the event, you agree to abide by the ATA Antitrust Compliance Policy. In particular, “[m]embers should be extremely careful about discussing prices or fees.”

Learn about SpatialChat’s Privacy Policy.

If you have any questions, please email us at divisionCLD@atanet.org.

See you then!
