Petition urging the UN to protect translators and interpreters worldwide

June 16, 2016 By IDwebmaster

petitionRed T, a non-profit organization advocating for translators and interpreters in high-risk settings, and the five major international language associations—the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), the International Federation of Translators (FIT), the International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (IAPTI), Critical Link International (CLI) and the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) have come together as a global community of language professionals in order to raise awareness about and lobby on behalf of translators and interpreters in danger. In light of the escalating persecution, prosecution, imprisonment and slaughter of our colleagues across the world, our coalition, which represents more than 100,000 linguists, urges governments and international organizations to better protect translators and interpreters.
