ATA Interpreters Division

Lorena Ortiz Schneider elected to the ATA Board

October 23, 2020 By ID-webmaster

By Helen Eby, ID Administrator

Lorena Ortiz ShneiderIt is a great pleasure to learn that Lorena Ortiz Schneider is among the newly elected ATA Board directors. In addition, she has just been recognized with the ATA’s 2020 Impact and Advocacy Awards. Congratulations, Lorena!

Lorena served as the assistant administrator of the ID between 2016 and 2018, returning to that post for the 2018-2020 term, always proving herself to be a steadfast, dependable partner. In her first term, as assistant to the previous ID administrator, Lorena not only supported her Admin behind the scenes but also functioned as blog master. Whether working with authors and editors, or making sure the ID was ready for everything, she always helped the other team members shine.

She continued this in her second term, as my own assistant administrator. Lorena was always ready to step up to take the lead when I had to step back because of family obligations. In 2019, I could not attend the annual ATA conference. Lorena seamlessly stepped in, working with the Leadership Council to run the Division’s annual meeting and networking event.

Without her strong, steady support during her time as assistant administrator, the ID would not be what it is today. Just as she helped to shape the ID, I am sure that she will continue to help shape the profession in her new role. Speaking for myself and on behalf of the Division and incoming assistant administrator Christina Green, we wish Lorena well in this next chapter as a member of the ATA Board and look forward to continuing to work with her.
