What I do:
Translation and Localization Project Manager at Hyland Software, the creator of OnBase, a leading ECM solution helping organizations to reduce their use of paper and manage all content electronically.
Most proud of:
Being able to provide translation expertise to help my company expand its global presence and serving as a mentor to the younger translators in my team.
Where I’ve been:
I am from Brasilia, Brazil, but I’ve lived in the U.S. for 19 years. I have a B.A. in Portuguese Translation and a M.A. in Spanish Translation, as well as extensive experience in teaching, translating and writing. I have taught at KSU (Kent State University, in Kent, Ohio) and ASU (Arizona State University, in Tempe) and I’ve written for several magazines in the fields of ophthalmology and business.
Why do I belong to PLD?
I believe it is important to stay in touch with colleagues to give and receive support and share knowledge.
Major challenges:
My greatest professional challenge comes from being restless. I’m always looking for my next impossible mission, even before I’ve finished the one I’m working on.
Reading:
“Naked Lunch,” by William S. Burrough, a book that takes the reader from the U.S. to Mexico and to Tangiers in Morocco. Also “The Argumentative Indian,” a collection of essays by Amartya Sen, discussing India’s history, identity, intellectual pluralism and argumentative tradition.
