Alexia Klein – Administrator (New York, USA)
Alexia Klein is a translator hailing from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She transitioned from a career as a pharmacist to pursue her passion for translation in 2012. Holding degrees in pharmaceutical sciences and history of science from Brazil’s UFMG, along with a certificate in translation from NYU, she has developed a strong focus on translations in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
Alexia plays an active role in her local community, having served on the Board of the New York Circle of Translators (NYCT), an ATA chapter, for two terms. In 2023, she finished her tenure as NYCT Program Director, during which time she organized all their events, including monthly educational seminars.
She has been calling New York City home since 2006.
Paula Ianelli – Assistant Administrator (New York, USA)
Paula Ianelli is a Brazilian conference interpreter who was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and is now located in New York City. During her almost 15 years of experience, she’s helped her clients communicate in a wide array of fields. She’s a member of AIIC and APIC and she’s certified by ATA and ABRATES. Paula holds a degree in Translation and a full diploma in Conference Interpreting.
Working at events with thousands of listeners and live broadcasts to global audiences, Paula has interpreted widely known figures, from celebrities like Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, and Sandra Bullock to politicians like American Vice President Kamala Harris and Brazilian Presidents Jair Bolsonaro and Michel Temer. She has a complete studio for Remote Simultaneous Interpreting and has been trained in multiple RSI platforms. Paula’s work in written translation is heavily geared towards crafting well-written texts that sound elegant and natural to a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker—hence her expertise in the creative realms of transcreation and game localization. Paula is also an experienced speaker who has delivered talks in multiple countries, has been an interpreter trainer at Alumni and has sat on the board of the Brazilian Translators and Interpreters Association. Julia Pedro – Advisor (Lisbon, POR)
Julia Pedro has been in the translation business since 1993, from the early days of localization, while working at a multinational financial information and services organization. Later, Julia joined Trados in the US and in Germany from 2000 to 2003 and worked in different projects for freelancers, LSPs and language-services related technology. She co-founded TranslateIt.net in Seattle, Washington and ran the business’ front and back offices for 7 years.
Besides her ATA-Certification in English-to-Portuguese achieved in 2006, Julia has been a certification grader since 2010 and more recently Deputy Language Chair. She holds certificates in translation and foreign languages from different academic institutions in Europe and Africa, and a degree in consecutive and simultaneous interpretation from the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg. Julia is also a sworn translator by the High Court of South Africa.
Over the last 20 years, Julia has been living, working, and traveling in the Americas, Europe and Africa on countless assignments and projects.
Ana Araújo – Secretary (Florida, USA)
Ana Araújo is a certified Cape Verdean Creole<>Portuguese interpreter with over 14 years of experience in the field. Prior to her career in interpretation, she worked in the international and finance department at a bank for 11 years across multiple continents. Ana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Portuguese with a minor in Business Administration from Florida International University.
Everton L. Morais – Events Coordinator (New York, USA)
Everton is an interpreter of Portuguese and English, and an interpretation equipment provider. He has been an interpreter since 2000, starting as a volunteer and transitioning to a professional career in 2009. Having a BBA in International Business made the transition into interpreting a smooth process, since in New York most of the assignments he covers are related to business and politics, two worlds he is profoundly interested in.
In 2022 Everton was invited by the City University of New Jersey to create a 7-week Intro. to Interpretation course and instructed a hybrid class of 11 students. As a pragmatist, Everton is constantly testing and learning about different interpretation equipment and their setup, to make assignments easier for interpreters and more seamless for end clients.
Patricia Snow – Events Coordinator (Maryland, USA)
Patricia Snow is a qualified court interpreter for the Maryland Judiciary and the Supreme Court of Virginia. She holds a PhD in plant pathology from the University of Florida and is a specialist in virology and molecular diagnostics of plant diseases. She worked within regulatory frameworks for plant health in Brazil and the US, and eventually transitioned to working as a regulatory scientist for organisms obtained through genetic engineering at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Having worked in Brazil and the US, Patricia has published articles in English and Portuguese. She has had many opportunities to work as a specialized translator and interpreter in English and Portuguese. Among other experiences, she was an English editor for a scientific journal in Brazil, and an “ad hoc” reviewer of articles for publication in several journals in English and Portuguese in Brazil and the US.
Giovanna Lester – Online Presence Coordinator (Florida, USA)
Gio is an ATA Certified Portuguese into English translator living in Miami, FL. She is also an interpreter, and her career has spanned four decades and two continents. Gio has served the ATA as a marketing team volunteer, Assistant Administrator and Administrator of the Interpreters Division, and Certification Grader (Portuguese into English). She was President of the original Florida Chapter (FLATA) and later co-founded the current Florida chapter (ATIF), which she also led as president—twice. Gio also served as Interim Vice-Chair of the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, Chair of the Miami-Dade County Advisory Council on Translation and Interpretation, and General Secretary of the Brazilian Association of Translators and Interpreters (ABRATES). She was also President of ABRATES for the 2020–2022 term.

Lynnea Hansen – Copyeditor (Wisconsin, USA)
Lynnea Hansen is a conference interpreter (Portuguese<>English), US State Department contract interpreter, translator (Portuguese>English) and English proofreader from the USA. She graduated from New York University in international relations, began translating and interpreting during an internship at an NGO, then worked at United Nations headquarters for two years, moved to Brazil and continued translation, proofreading, and interpreting studies (graduated from Rio Brasillis), and interpreted President Obama in Washington DC in 2016. She has 24 years of experience and many hundreds of articles translated or edited/proofread, which have been published in international academic journals.
Todd Harkin – Copyeditor (São Paulo, Brazil)
Todd Harkin is a Portuguese > English translator from Missouri (USA), specializing in food, sustainable development, and medical and pharmaceutical content, as well as in cultural equivalence in translation. He transitioned to a full-time career in translation in 2018, after more than 25 years in the food industry in different countries. Todd has a Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy and Hospitality Management and Certificates in Portuguese as a Second Language (Mackenzie University), Medical Translation (Escola de Tradutores), Technical Translation (Geronymus), and Conference Interpreting (Escola de Tradutores). He is currently studying English-Portuguese Translation in the Graduate Program of Estácio University. A formally trained and certified Chef, Todd is the personification of a foodie translator.
Patricia Worsley – Blog Administrator (Mississippi, USA)
Patricia Worsley is an English <> Portuguese translator from Santos, Brazil. She holds a translation certificate from Brasillis Idiomas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has worked as a freelance and an in-house translator with journalistic and religious texts. She has also managed the translation of a genealogy company’s blog into 14 languages. Currently, she is working as a music translator project supervisor, which allows her to combine her love for music with her passion for languages.
