The ATA Conference is always a huge event with many parallel activities. All attendees should know that having a game plan is better than just drifting through the sessions. With so much going on, you might feel lost and simply miss presentations that are right up your alley.

We have prepared this PLD Highlights Guide that you can adapt and expand. It is by no means exhaustive, but we hope it’s helpful for those interested in the Portuguese Language Division. The full schedule is on the Conference website. This schedule is subject to change, so stay tuned.

IMPORTANT GENERAL TIPS

Buddies Welcome Newbies – If you are attending the conference for the first time, start by checking the Buddies Welcome Newbies program. If you are a conference veteran, you can offer to be a buddy. Both buddies and newbies can sign up for this activity here.

Conference App – Only registered attendees can access the app. Once you register, you will receive your username and password within five business days. If you have already registered for the conference, download the conference app here. Remember to complete your profile and upload your résumé before traveling to Miami. The app is a great way to navigate the conference because you can create your own schedule and connect to people. It allows you to find out about last-minute changes, view handouts and take notes.

Social media – If you are using social media, use hashtag #ata56 for the general conference, and #PLD25 for your get-togethers with PLD members. We would love to see pictures! Our colleagues who are not attending this year will thank you for making a little bit of the conference available for them. And to find out more, follow @pld_ata and @atanet on Twitter.

Zumba – Did you know that you can start your day with zumba? PLD member Cris Silva is the zumba instructor! Thursday to Saturday, 6:00am – 7:00am

Having fun – The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Florida (ATIF) has prepared a webpage for those who want to have some fun in Miami.
