Member Spotlight – Sonia Cunha Goldner

What is your name?
Sonia Cunha Goldner.

Where do you currently live?
Orlando, FL, USA.

Please share a bit of your background:
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law and am committed to helping businesses and individuals achieve clear and effective legal communication. My background includes roles as a bilingual executive secretary and legal assistant, foreign trade analyst, and marketing assistant. These roles have provided me with a deep understanding of the corporate environment.​

What you’re doing these days professionally?
I provide certified translation and document preparation services to Brazilian individuals and businesses. My services cover a wide range of documentation and international procedures, including obtaining Apostilles for foreign documents and acting as an Authorized Representative for I-9 Form employment verification.​

As a member of the National Notary Association and the American Association of Notaries, I’m insured, bonded, and commissioned to offer notary public services in Orlando and other cities in Florida.

What is a current translation or interpreting engagement you are completing (or one you have completed recently)?
I am currently working on certified translations and Apostilles for legal documents bound for Brazil.

What is one of your greatest life accomplishments (whether personal or professional) to date?
My two children.

What challenge(s) are you facing in your career?
Ensuring client satisfaction to foster repeat business.

When did you first join ATA?
I became a member of the ATA in 2022.

How has ATA and/or PLD membership benefited you?
The ATA has enhanced my visibility to clients worldwide.

What do you enjoy doing outside of translation and interpreting?
I enjoy spending time with my granddaughters.

If you weren’t a translator or interpreter, what would you be and why?
I would be a legal professional to assist those who cannot afford legal representation.

What is your favorite book of Portuguese-language literature?
O Guarani by José de Alencar.

What message would you wish to share with your fellow translators and interpreters?
Be bold and diligent in your work, but never forget to invest in what is eternal.
