Why Translate Poetry?  诗词翻译到底意义何在?

表意文字和表音文字之间的诗词互译,意义不大(if at all),例如中文诗词是多维集合体,包括音韵甚至书法!这些东西如何转译复制?通过翻译让全世界了解并感受到中国诗词之美,仔细想想,可能吗?Mission (nigh) impossible!

但译诗是很好的练功法。翻译如猜谜。任何一句话,宇宙中一定存在”最佳译法”(这是无需证明的公理,因为”最佳”不一定”理想”),相当于灯谜的谜底,有的谜底是相当牵强的,但它比其他谜底更扣合谜面。译者的任务就是在虚空中寻找那个谜底或与该谜底”译效”相当的替代谜底。而译诗可以提高你的猜谜本领。

Participants are encouraged to ask questions as well as share their own insights on poetry translation in this 1.5-hour webinar on Zoom. Please note that this discussion will not be recorded, but those who attend will qualify for 1 CE point.
