I felt at home in multicultural Boston, where the Portuguese-speaking community is so big.
Being there for a short time doing fieldwork for my PhD on healthcare communication and translation, I had the opportunity to gather with these two wonderful ladies, one also from the University of Coimbra and the other a Portuguese interpreter at Cambridge Health Alliance. There were only three of us, but we had a great time sharing knowledge and experiences about language and culture mediation in hospital settings in MA.
Most PLDs were at a big event elsewhere, but some still reached out to say how interested they were and to arrange future remote meetings.
So, this was a fruitful, happy moment, indeed!
