What motivated you to join the leadership of the PLD?
To engage in the Division, to participate actively.
What was your role in the PLD, and when did you serve?
Grader (for over 25 years) and Language Chair (2009-2018).
What were the dynamics of PLD at that time?
A two-and-a-half-year suspension strongly impacted our dynamics (2009-2012). After being reinstated, PLD resumed its vibrant dynamics with Spring Meetings and Conferences.
What do you consider your greatest contribution to the advancement of the PLD?
Reinstating English-into-Portuguese Certification and acting as Language Chair.
What are you currently doing, both professionally and personally?
I started decelerating 5 years ago. Since then, only special projects. Two of those coming out: Poetry/Literary translation into English with publication soon. One in the US, one in Germany.
What is your vision for the future of the PLD?
Productive, energetic, inspiring.
What advice do you have for PLD members today?
Engage. Participate. Honor language and culture. Work hard. Enjoy harder.
